Biography
Born Yermin Betancourt de Arguello, in Havana Cuba, Yermin was born to a rich family descendant of Jean de Bétancourt, King of the Canary Islands.
Many of the family were explorers of the New World and Yermin’s Father settled in Cuba just outside of Havana. Son of this wealthy landowner Yermin was suceeded by four brothers and two uncles for the title of Lord of Betancourt, Cuba. Yermin took up residence in some of the finanest schools in Spain and learned tohe art of sculpting, woodworking, medicine, metalurgy and philosophy.
Unable to succeed in the ownership of the land and having too many brothers to try to kill to take control of the title “Lord” He joined the Spanish Army and then Navy. He set out in search or a name for himself as conqueror of some part of the New World. He was quick and savy of worldly issues and and was educated in some of the finest schools. He quickly knew that much of New World had to be taken by force. While working on a sailing ship for the East India Trading Company in the Carribean for which his father was a company officer, his ship was attacked and boarded by pirates.He was taken prisoner and held for ransom. His father having too much to content with and dishonored that his son left the family and was captured, denied any ransom to the pirates.
Infuriated by his fathers denial, he swore to take up arms with the pirates and use his worldly knowledge and knowledge of the East India Trading company and leave his mark upon his family name for turning their back on him.
Although he did not make it far in the ranks before his ship was attacked and taken prisoner, Yermin showed promise of an excellent naval career. He was able to convince the captain of the marauding vessel to spare his life in exchange for his knowledge of the ports and his connections with prominent members within the Spanish and French government and his connections with the King of Spain and France through blood rights. Knowing he may never be able to return to claim his family succession if he chose this life , he embraced the life of piracy on the Carribean seas. He was accepted by the Captain of the Raging Saint Mae Captain Hawk and to this day helps fight against the East India Trading Company every chance his Captain Gives him. His full name so very difficult to pronounce by most of the english born sailors was shortened to Ye-llo or Yeyo. He continues to assist privateers and pirates alike with all the skills he learned, and has helped his new Captain make a name for themselves. He is presently using his skills as a woodworker aboard as the Raging Saint Mae’s carpenter.
