Guilds

2017-08-27T16:52:16Z

Requiem:

Though not ships, Guilds are individual groups specialized in an area that members from multiple ships can be a part of. Basically a member of a ship can also be members of multiple guilds, but not multiple ships.

The guilds are not represented by a Captain and therefore do not function as a unique entity. Each Guild Master is head of projects pertaining to their specific field of focus and expertise. Individual guilds may have special requirements for membership and these requirements are determined by their respective Guild Master.

Coming Soon

Useful Info For Noobs
Congratulations!!!!!
You passed the first test.
You found this page.

So you heard the pitch and are interested in becoming a Rogue. This page has the info you need to get you there.

We are a social drinking club with a charity problem and a golden age of piracy theme. As the true philosophical difference between Yarrrrrr and Arrrrrr is still a hotly debated topic the following guidelines and suggestions have been badly translated to plain English.

The first and most important step is for us to get to know you and you to get to know us. Outsiders are generally mocked, pointed at, kicked, poked with sharp things, and eaten, so stop being a stranger.

The way to do this-

1 Look through the Wiki-

You’re already here. This wiki has loads of information showing what we are all about and how we are organized.

2 Get on the Forums-

http://forums.coloradorogues.org/ucp.php?mode=register

All of our events and our primary mode of communication are through our private forums so register asap.

But I have a warning- Your conduct on the Forums will make a huge difference towards being accepted. We expect a level of courtesy toward all our members and the forum rules are strongly enforced. As well as the Terms of Service.

Read the above paragraph again. It’s alright I’ll wait…

3 Come out and play with us-

Throughout the year we have a bunch of events and parties both public and private. On the forums we have a place for upcoming events. Show up to a public event and get involved. If we see you we will remember you. And us remembering you in a positive way that helps a lot toward you being accepted for the Step N Fetch program.

4 Apply for the Step N Fetch program-

This is where things get interesting. The Step N Fetch program is something all of us went through in one form or another. It’s the rite of passage and proving ground that you have what it takes to be a Rogue. Ask any Rogue about being a Step and they will tell you an interesting story. Every Step year is memorable.

Some things you should know about being a Step-

It takes effort- Being a Rogue takes effort. The more active participants we have the more we can do. We want people who are willing to participate and make the Rogues even better.

It will invade your life- Mwa ha ha ha. It will take time (someone has to go get the booze), it will cost money (someone has to pay for the booze), it will not always go smoothly (someone has to go back for ice), it’s a lot of fun (for those who get to drink the booze). The more you put into the Rogues the more you will get out of it. We are a giant dysfunctional family and you will get all the joys and sorrows that comes with it. And its completely worth it.

Every year at the Colorado Renaissance Festival the Harbour does interviews with potential Steps to determine if you are right for the program. We have a list of requirements and guidelines that we look for in each applicant.

Requirements-

Definition of REQUIREMENT: something required:
a : something wanted or needed : necessity <production was not sufficient to satisfy military requirements>
b : something essential to the existence or occurrence of something else : condition <failed to meet the school's requirements for graduation>

-Must have a Full Rogue in good standing as a sponsor
-Must be able to attend the End Of Fair Party (EOFP)
-Must be available for 2 mandatory events during the Rogue year (Meet’N’Greet Parts 1 & 2)
-Must attend the First Step Meeting in September
-Must be able to attend the EOFP the following year for your Graudation

Guidelines-

Definition of GUIDELINE: a line by which one is guided: as
a : a cord or rope to aid a passer over a difficult point or to permit retracing a course
b : an indication or outline of policy or conduct

-Must know and be friends with more than 1 Rogue
-Must be willing to take orders without a “please” or “thank you” attached
-Must be able to laugh at oneself as well as at others
-Must be able to resolve conflict swiftly and appropriately
-Must be able to dedicate as much time to the Program and the Rogues as if they were working a part-time job at 5-15 hours per month
-Must be able to attend a minimum of 4 days of Colorado Renaissance Festival 2013
-Must be honest
-Must be reliable
-Must be able to contribute to the writing, production, and performance of an original skit with the other members of the Step Class
-Must have consistent access to the internet and the Colorado Rogue forums
-Must not let personal drama interfere with their involvement or a fellow Step's involvement with the Program

Congratulations!!!!
You passed the second test
You read this whole thing
Now go back to the top and actually do it.
Hopefully we will raise a pint with you soon.

Biography
I was wandering around the port looking for adventure and escape from my family when I met a man named Battery O'Banyon, He offered me a drink and I told him of my dreams of adventure and escape. In turn, he told me of his adventures at sea. While we were having our drink, many sailors joined us and shared their adventures as well. After meeting all these fine sailors, I decided that a life at sea was in my future, but there were many trials ahead. When I told my new friends I would like to join them they asked me what I knew of sailing, but I knew nothing of the sea. Still determined, I petitioned the Harbourmaster to teach me what I needed to join a crew. She agreed to teach me of the sea if I would stay with the harbour for a year and do what was asked. After that year when I had learned the skills and earned my keep, Harbourmaster Jettie gave me her leave, and I joined the crew of the Lady Sinister. It has been a few years now since I joined the Lady Sinister, and I could not ask to sail on a finer ship. The crew is now my family and, though we have sailed through fair winds and stormy waters, I know I have found my home.

Biography
This is not actually Scotty's biography. He's just a slacker so I made one up for him.
~Requiem

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen....wait a minute. Sorry. Wrong story. But this one is related. For you see, Jolly Old Saint Nicholas had a perverted streak and used to hit up the strip clubs in Trinidad on the off season, much to Mrs. Claus's disapproval.

One year, in the early 90's, Saint Nick found himself in the bottom of a bottle of Jameson, lying naked next to his favorite stripper in some seedy motel near Trinidad. "Holy shit, what have I done!" exclaimed the old bearded man. About 9 months down the road, he got an anonymous delivery with a note saying only "So much for only giving me the tip, you bastard. This belongs to you." The package contained a baby.

Now, Santa is a sly old bastard, and played off that the kid was just another elf for his workshop. The ruse worked on the Mrs. for a little over two years, but when the "elfling" got taller and jollier than the elves, the gig was up. Santa had to explain that the boy was his illegitimate love child with an unnamed woman. And that's when the shit hit the fan.

Saint Nick, with a heavy heart and a sigh, agreed to take the boy somewhere else to live. He went down his Nice List, then his Almost Nice list, and so on until he came upon the "Naughty by deeds of piracy, looting and pillaging" list. "Ah ha!" he exclaims. "I've found just the rapscallions to watch over my boy."

Christmas time rolled around, and Santa bundled up his little elf lad and jumped in the sleigh. When flying over Denver, he made a special stop at the home of the couple at the top of his Piracy list, Cricket and Moon. He broke in through the kitchen window, his son slung over his left shoulder like a sack of charcoal briquettes, and a keg of Cuban rum under his right arm. Both were left next to the tree, with a note saying "Watch over my boy as if he were your own." Imagine their surprise when they woke up the next morning.

6:00 on Christmas morning, Moon wakes up and sees a 3-year-old child and more liquor than he could drink in a week, and yelled down the hall "Honey!! You have some explaining to do!!" Cricket came stumbling down the hall in a sleep-filled daze, muttering about her husband waking her up, and stopped cold when she got to the living room.

"What the hell is THAT?"

"I think it's a boy," said Moon. "Don't know. I assumed you picked it up at the pet store. And look, Honey! Rum!"

"You know better than that, ya jackass. You can't buy kids at the pet store. I have no idea where it came from. Is there a note or anything?" Moon passed her the simple note, to which she shrugged and said "Might as well keep him. Rex could use a friend. At least his former owners were considerate enough to provide alcohol so we can think it was really our idea."

The two drank the day away, and then remembered they had a new kid. "It's pretty shoddy of someone to leave their kid in our house," Moon said. Or so he thought. What actually came out was "'S Pri'y scotty s'm'one leaf they kid inna house." And thus was born Scotty Simon Moon.

The years went by, with Scotty learning everything Moon and Cricket had to offer - looting, pillaging, sailing, swearing, drinking, fighting, fornicating, and bartending. His playmates and friends were all the sons of sailors, and most of them had a better grasp on sailing and swearing since they had an earlier start.

One particular lad, who would grow into the name of Phrae, was one of the biggest influences on young Scotty. The two would grow, through a long series of rough-and-tumble fights (usually over some girl or another) to be closer to each other than brothers. To this day, Scotty has his own version of family, and blames it all on Phrae.

Scotty was 10 years old when he was first told that he was adopted. Now, most kids, when you tell them they are adopted, they start to cry. Scotty was a hardass, so he told his father, Moon, to prove it. Moon walked down into his basement, opened up a secret cabinet at the bar, and pulled out the note from Father Christmas, and a couple of planks from the keg Scotty came with.

Scotty spent the next year wondering if he had any real siblings, so he started a website called "santas-bastards.org." Within a couple of months, he'd received posts on his website from 3 other people, all saying that Santa put his Naughty List where it shouldn't have been, and that Scotty was their oldest brother.

He came to terms with this pretty quick, for only being 11. He told Moon that he wanted to meet these other kids. Moon cautioned him that not everyone is a pirate, so he'd have to be careful and not pillage them, then gave him the keys to the neighbor's car and bid Scotty farewell.

He hopped in the car and drove on for a couple of hours until reaching the foster home where his siblings lived. He picked the lock on the back door, walked into the living room, and proclaimed "Hey bastards! I'm your fucken leader, take me to your liquor cabinet!" Half a bottle of Glenlivet later, and Scotty was piling orphans into his stolen car, and weaving his way back to The House of the Full Moon.

As soon as the motley gang of Little Clauses walked in the door, Moon scowled at Scotty and said "Oh HELL no. I already have one cabin boy, what do you expect me to do with three more? And didn't I tell you not to pillage? Damnit, boy! Go put them back where you found them."

"Can I keep one, dude? You never let me keep my plunder, and I always wanted a sister. I'll take the younger two back."

Moon allowed this, since it was true that he rarely let Scotty keep what he had pillaged and plundered. "You got a name, kid?" he asked of the oldest girl.

"La..la..Lauren, sir. Can I go home now, sir? I miss my mommy."

"Damn it, Scotty. I thought you said these kids were your siblings. No more kidnapping people without telling them first. Take them home, explain who you are, and if they like ya, I'll let ya have visitation rights. Now get!"

On the drive back to the Fosterage, Scotty discovered from a frightened Lauren that the kids were not the ones who posted on santas-bastards.org, but that it was really their foster father trying to play a cruel joke on them. The children only went with Scotty because they were scared not to.

Scotty was now a little disappointed, and asked if he could still hang out with them, since he had hoped they were actually his siblings. Lauren said she'd allow it, as long as there was no swearing and no drinking. This was the most difficult thing that Scotty had ever been asked to do, but he was willing since he so badly wanted a sister. Lauren soon became the second member of Scotty's associated-family that began with his brother Phrae.

Now go back to the top and actually do it.
Hopefully we will raise a pint with you soon.

Ship Story
So no shit, there we were, a crew swathed in Crimson with the ominous sounds of retirement in the air. Our captain has decided to sail off into the sunrise and see if Davy Jones remembered his locker combination.

We had a choice to make. Do we start singing "Come Sail Away" at the top of our lungs, or do we go...*ahem*....appropriate a new ship and name a new Captain?

The crew decided to leave the ship as it was, and to abscond with a new ship. Now, all we needed was a captain. So, we voted, because everyone knows that Piracy and Democracy are roughly the same thing. The vote came back with an anonymous number of people voting for Bonzi D Darkstar, and one vote for the movie The Colour Purple. As Democracies go, this was a pretty clean vote, and it was decided: Bonzi D Darkstar would captain us into the future.

Not much is known about the future. What we do know is that it is ahead of us, and we're ready to take the future by the horns and steer it to where we want to go. It's a long journey, with never an end in sight, but we're in good hands and we know that we'll make it somehow.
