Pirates Invade 16th Street Mall!
There is ne’er a more intense look than when a pirate is deep in thought about finding hidden treasure. Such was the case on October 18th, as over 30 garbed members of the Colorado Rogues boarded the 16th St. Mall for their annual Treasure Hunt.
Now in its third year, the Treasure Hunt has become a much anticipated event among the Rogues. Members from each ship spent the very beautiful and sunny Fall day deciphering map pieces, answering questions on pirate history, rearranging letters and collecting booty. The game was a frenzied rush to each Step-n-Fetch-manned post, a quick brainstorming session to decode their clue, then a mad dash to the next location.
And, of course, answering questions to passers-by. It’s not every day you see pirates walking the streets. Those curious and daring enough approached with inquiries as to what group participants were a part of, and even how to join.
This year, new twists included a scavenger hunt and answering a history question in order to receive the next clue. Partly due to the rising cost of gas, Ballistikk (the game’s founder) moved locations to the 16th Street Mall, including stops like the Tattered Cover, Celtic Tavern and Mermaid’s Bakery, making walking the desired mode of transport.
When the day was done, all participants arrived at Café Netherworld with their booty and completed maps for inspection by The Harbour. The final results were:
